Academic Excellence
Dr. Abad earned his medical degree (MD with distinction) from Semmelweis University, where his final thesis was graded “Excellent” by the Department of Behavioural Science.
Thesis: “Melatonin and Pineal Gland Regulation of Sleep and Longevity” — research that continues to influence his approach to hormonal balance, circadian biology, and regenerative medicine.

COVID-19 Response & Research
During the COVID-19 crisis, Dr. Abad was redeployed to Intensive Care Units (ICUs)and contributed to the UK’s national pandemic response.
He also worked with the Novavax vaccine research team, supporting clinical trial coordination and patient screening, helping test over 760 patients by 2021 as part of the vaccine development process.
Current Practice & Expertise
Today, Dr. Abad leads in aesthetic and regenerative medicine, combining his surgical knowledge with advanced non-surgical techniques. He is currently a trainer in aesthetics, actively teaching junior doctors and nurses in both NHS and private sectors.

Extensive NHS Experience
After obtaining full GMC registration in 2012, Dr. Abad worked across more than 22 major NHS hospitals, including:

- Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
He completed his foundation surgical training in Ayrshire and Arran, Scotland, and served as a Surgical Trust Grade Doctor at Stepping Hill Hospital, Cheshire (2016-2020), developing extensive experience in trauma care, surgical and urological procedures, and ambulatory care.
His frontline work during the May 2017 Manchester Arena attack earned formal recognition from hospital leadership, described as delivering “outstanding emergency care” by the hospital board of directors.

Background & Qualifications
Mr. Sam Taktak is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at Stockport NHS Foundation Trustwith outreach to Tameside & Glossop NHS Foundation Trust and East Cheshire NHS Trust. Born and raised locally, he graduated from Norwich Medical School with MBBS in 2015, returning to the North West to complete surgical and higher urological training without any gaps.
During his training, Sam obtained a PGDip with Distinction in Urology from Salford University, as well as a PGCert in Medical Education from Edge Hill University.
Clinical Expertise
Mr. Taktak is a sub-specialist in urinary tract stone disease, managing a metabolic stone clinic and contributing to multidisciplinary stone meetings. He’s integral in incorporating novel treatments and technology locally, including suction access sheaths and minimally invasive techniques such as ESWL.
Clinical interests include:
- Urinary stone disease including prevention and metabolic work-up
- Men’s health including BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia)
- Peno-scrotal disease and vasectomy
- Recurrent UTIs and urination problems
- Pelvic/testicular pain syndromes
- Full spectrum of diagnostic procedures for urological cancers
Research & Teaching
Mr. Taktak is a recognised author of several peer-reviewed publications across the urological spectrum and has presented internationally on the burden of urinary tract infections and minimising resistance patterns for better patient outcomes, including an invitation to the Royal Society of Medicine podium.
He is a Royal College of Surgery-accredited faculty for surgical courses, aiding the development of the next generation of surgeons, and is keenly involved in examinations through the University of Manchester.
